Half a Heart
03:03
|
|
||
Sitting in a cafe on the coast
Drinking coffee on my own
I been living in a lonely little world
But your changing the physics of my universe
Keep me round
I’m not lost I’m not found
I’m not wholly all together but here’s half a heart you can hold forever love
It’s raining in the city where I live
And I’m trying to shelter from the wind
You’re braving the water-flooded ground
And heading toward the light and sound
Keep me round
I’ll go up and I’ll go down
I’m a worthwhile endeavour
And here’s half a heart you can hold forever
Keep me round
I’m not lost I’m not found
I’m not wholly all together but here’s half a heart you can hold forever love

Jolene

Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene
I'm begging of you please don't take my man
Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene
Please don't take him just because you can
Your beauty is beyond compare
With flaming locks of auburn hair
With ivory skin and eyes of emerald green
Your smile is like a breath of spring
Your voice is soft like summer rain
And I cannot compete with you
Jolene
He talks about you in his sleep
And there's nothing I can do to keep
From crying when he calls your name
Jolene
And I can easily understand
How you could easily take my man
But you don't know what he means to me
Jolene
Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene
I'm begging of you please don't take my man
Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene
Please don't take him just because you can
You could have your choice of men
But I could never love again
He's the only one for me
Jolene
I had to have this talk with you
My happiness depends on you
And whatever you decide to do
Jolene
Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene
I'm begging of you please don't take my man
Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene
Please don't take him even though you can
Jolene, Jolene

Highflyer
03:20
|
|
||
In a certain light
you see the string keeping me upright
You can see that I’m a million Light years
from finding home
I was a Highflyer, a white liar, a raging fire
Now a lonesome pariah
And I can’t save the world from itself
I can’t breathe so I guess I’m staying home so no-one else can see
I can’t sing cause singing songs ain’t ever helped a soul like me
In the end
In the morning light,
You see that I’ve been just too tired to fight
You see that I can’t travel in time
To get back to you
I am a half wild
Problem child
A blood red nile, not a rank-and-file and I
Wont tow the line anymore
I can’t breathe so I guess I’m staying home so no-one else can see
I can’t sing cause singing songs ain’t ever helped a soul like me
In the end
kill my gods and kill my ghosts
Let this goddamn government eat me whole
God knows i laid to rest
My armour and my beating chest
And god knows that I am Abel
I can’t breathe so I guess I’m staying home so no-one else can see
I can’t sing cause singing songs ain’t ever helped a soul like me
I can’t breathe so I guess I’m staying home so no-one else can see
I can’t sing cause singing songs ain’t ever helped a soul like me
In the end

Neon Heart
03:50
|
|
||
I see you dancing there on your own
In The sub bass heaven where you made your home
Your neon heart
Shining in the dark
I don’t know your name But I know your face
I’ll ask you to dance to this drum and bass
There’s time but not enough
For us my summer love
Walking on the sand, hand in hand
The stars are burning lights above our heads
Our neon hearts
Shine in the dark

Tennessee
03:51
|
|

Don’t want to be one of a million wannabes
Striving towards something that I know I can’t achieve
I’ll never be from Tennessee
I been down to Nashville and I liked that little town
But truth is that it chewed me up and then it spat me out
I don’t belong in Tennessee
I’ll pretend that I’m Johnny Cash and you’re June Carter and when we sing
We can make believe we’re from Tennessee
Don’t want to sing of troubles
That I ain’t ever had
Don’t wanna put an accent on
And sell stories second hand
I can’t go back to Tennessee
I’ll pretend that I’m Johnny Cash and you’re June Carter and when we sing
We can make believe we’re from Tennessee

Talented
03:51
|
|

He’s driving
A cherry red Silverado
There’s a butterscotch telecaster on his wall but it’s gone out of tune
He’s saying
Saying he can make me a megastar, saying everyone will know who you are, baby
Just do whatever I say
And I knew you were pretending
‘Cause every feeling in my bones said the same
Yeah I know that I’m not talented
But I’m just another dreamer,
A dreamer who got out alive
He’s drinking
Jackie D from the bottle and reeling off
Stories of the old days of writing songs but I’m not sure that any of it’s true
He’s saying
Hold a rose petal over an open flame
To the devil write a letter and in it say
You can keep my soul for a taste of that fame
And I knew you were pretending
‘Cause every feeling in my bones said the same
Yeah I know that I’m not talented
But I’m just another dreamer,
A dreamer who got out alive
Just another dreamer
A dreamer who got out alive

Almost heaven, West Virginia
Blue ridge mountains, Shenandoah river
Life is old there, older than the trees
Younger than the mountains, growin' like a breeze
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads
All my memories, gather 'round her
Miner's lady, stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky
Misty taste of moonshine, teardrop in my eye
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads
I hear her voice, in the mornin' hour she calls me
The radio reminds me of my home far away
Drivin' down the road I get a feelin'
That I should have been home yesterday, yesterday
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads
Take me home, (down) country roads
Take me home, (down) country roads
